1.Brief Introduction of Shandong Academy
of Agricultural Sciences
Shandong Academy of Agricultural Sciences (SAAS) is a branch of the provincial government; it was set up in 1946 and has developed into one of China’s provincial academy of agricultural sciences which is comparatively large in scale, powerful in strength, comprehensive in disciplines and outstanding in contributions. For the present, SAAS has 20 research institutes. There are 1872 in-service workers and staff members, among whom 1102 are professionals.
The research works of SAAS now cover 40 disciplines, including the main sciences and technologies for the development of Shandong agricultural economy such as researches on crops, fruit trees, vegetables, cattle and birds, silk worm, nuclear application, agricultural microorganism, biological technology, information technology and etc. We have developed the superiorities on the breeding of hi-quality wheat, summer corn, and peanut for export, ball worm resistant cotton.
SAAS has built and are building national centre for peanut engineering and technological research, 4 national crop improvement sub-centre, 5 national quality testing centers, 5 breed seed bases, 1 national fruit tree various germplasm centre, 7 provincial key laboratories, 1 provincial engineering and technological research center, 2 research and development bases，and 1 provincial agricultural technology demonstration park.
Since 1978 SAAS has obtained 1135 achievements in various scientific researches, among which 425 won state, provincial or ministerial awards including 4 national invention awards, 10 national science and technology development awards, 18 provincial or ministerial awards. There are more than 200 varieties get the national or provincial permission.
We attach importance to the international technological exchange and cooperation. We keep good relationship with more than 10 international organizations and more than 50 institutes in different nations or districts.
Cooperation Intention:
1. On Feb.25, 2005, the Venezuela Ministerial Delegation visited SAAS, and signed the letter of intent between Venezuela and us on technological and scientific cooperation in agriculture. Also, a final of minute was signed between SAAS MCT-INIA on April 8th, so we wish to investigate Venezuela agriculture development, and to carry out the projects in the letter of intent.
2. Investigate agriculture of Colombia, Ecuador and Chile; consult relevant matters of agricultural technologies cooperation with agricultural institutes/colleges, economy commerce organizations in these countries. We will also talk about the possibilities of exporting agricultural technologies.

The main products of the company are ChiDong series 190 diesel engines (180-1800kW), diesel generating sets(150-1500kW), ChiDong series 190 natural gas engines (450-550kW), and natural gas generating sets(60-500kW). Products of Jinan Diesel are widely used for oil drilling, railway, metallurgy, oil and chemical industry, warships, ships as well as ordinary power and stand-by power. Its annual output has been up to 1000 sets. They are servicing in all big oil fields and 30 provinces, cities and regions as well as exported to almost 30 countries and regions such as Indonesia, Pakistan, and Japan etc. Z12V190B diesel engine is only the product which won national quality gold medal in domestic high speed, large power diesel engine families.
